Dialed Control is an independent firmware for Focus V devices, designed to reach other makers later. It comes from our own research, is checked on a real instrument bench, is reversible by design, and is in an invite-only beta.

Every part of Dialed Control is worked out and checked on instruments: on the wires, on the radio, on the heater, and against an identical stock unit sitting next to the test unit.

  1. LA

    Logic analyzers

    Decode the SPI, I²C and UART traffic between the microcontroller and everything it talks to, so behavior is read off the wire instead of guessed.

  2. DP

    SWD debug probes

    Read back, flash and step through firmware on the chip itself, and compare what we build against the stock image it replaces.

  3. BT

    Bluetooth LE sniffer

    An nRF52840-based capture feeding Wireshark records what the stock app and the device actually say to each other, characteristic by characteristic.

  4. OS

    Oscilloscope and current probe

    The heater's drive signal and the current it really pulls, measured at the source, so heat control is checked electrically before a build leaves the bench.

  5. TC

    Type-K thermocouples and data logger

    Real temperature at the chamber, logged against the set point over whole sessions. The number on screen has to match the number at the chamber.

    Identical paired units

    A stock reference and a test unit of the same model, run side by side on the same probes. When the results differ, the only variable is our firmware.

The feature list isn't final. These are.

  1. Reversible by design.

    Every build so far has been tested going back to stock, and the way back is written down. That's the rule we work to, not a feature we market. It's still beta software.

  2. One stack, many rigs.

    An independent firmware stack built to be cross-compatible from the start. Focus V first, Puffco next.

  3. Measured, not guessed.

    Our own reverse engineering, datasheets and instruments, not recycled third-party patches.

  4. The browser is the remote.

    A companion web app, so tuning happens on the screen you already have open. No app store in the way.

  5. Shipped when it's right.

    No dates we can't keep. The status board on this page is the truth, and it changes when the work does.

    Sign up in the web app with the email you gave us and confirm it. Once you're on the access list, install the firmware from there.
